The Courts Administration Service (CAS) is seeking an Executive Assistant to the Chief Justice to work at the AS-04 group and level in Ottawa (bilingual imperative PPC/PPC).*

*For this position, the PPC/PPC level is defined as the highest bilingual level. You would require advanced working ability in both official languages.

This opportunity will be of interest to administrative professionals who have

  • Experience as an executive administrative assistant, legal assistant or legal secretary;
  • Experience in administering a budget, in scheduling travel and accommodation arrangements including the preparation of itineraries and agenda;
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Who are available to work from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.;


  • Who are seeking a work environment where reliability, discretion, judgment and attention to detail are highly valued.

The Challenge?

This opportunity is to provide support in the Office of the Chief Justice of the Federal Court on an interim basis with a possibility of indeterminate appointment.  The incumbent will work closely with the Chief Justice and will provide judicial administrative support to the Chief Justice in his role as a judge, in addition to executive administrative support in his role as a Chief Justice. The individual occupying this role serves as the central point of contact for the Chief Justice and ensures liaison with the members of the Court, the Office of the Chief Justice, and the Chief Administrator as well as a number of judicial bodies on a wide range of complex and unique issues.

What does CAS do?
CAS provides support services to the Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal, Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada and Tax Court of Canada.  In doing so, CAS and its employees work to safeguard the independence of the judiciary and help ensure access to justice for all Canadians. As a small department of approximately 800 employees, we are located in Ottawa’s downtown core, but also have regional offices across the country. This work opportunity is located on Sparks Street, steps away from public transit, fitness centers, shopping and entertainment.
